TREE COUNCIL - MIDLANDS TREE WARDEN FORUM

Saturday September 28th was a great occasion for Walsall Tree Wardens as the Arboretum played host to visiting delegates from all parts of the Midlands and as far away  as Poland.
The morning session was held in the Grange Theatre with talks by Professor Ian Truman, James Friel (CEO The Black Environment), Sarah Kent (OPAL Community Scientist).
Councillor Kath Phillips, Bill Locke and Jo Lester finished off by giving brief accounts of projects completed in Bloxwich parks and the Arboretum.

The  seventy people attending then enjoyed an excellent lunch buffet provided by Indideli.

In the afternoon, workshops were held in the Learning Garden, Community Orchard and the proposed site of the future Country Park.  The programme finished with Pauline Buchanan Black, Director General of the Tree Council, assisted by Park Manager Louise Worton and Polish delegates, planting a tree.

Thanks to good weather and great efforts from Walsall volunteers everyone went home completely happy with the day’s experience.  The very positive evaluation sheets confirmed our belief that Walsall Tree Wardens had done the town proud!
